I am a reading interventionist with years of experience in teaching learners that need a different approach to be successful in reading. I primarily use a speech to print approach (structured linguistic literacy). I help my learners attach letters in a word to the sounds that they represent. I give immediate, corrective feedback. I focus on reading fluency as well as vocabulary, comprehension, writing and morphology. I graduated from Indiana University with honors in elementary, special education and reading education. My masters degree is from Loyola University and my reading specialist degree is from National Louis University. I am Orton Gillingham trained and recently certified in EBLI (which is the backbone of my current teaching approach). I am passionate , serious and committed to helping all readers meet their maximum potential.
